Morning trek to hidden Buddhist Caves

Last Sunday we planned to explore hidden Budhhist caves on Mumbai-Goa highway. The caves is over looking the highway & Savitri river from centuries. From the first day I had come here, it was one of the points in visit list.

So that day came finally last weekend. What best time to visit is than early morning having a view of sunrise. Seeing the sun come up from behind the hill. What a powerful view it was - as if fire is rising high with its full power.

The caves have multiple steps before you get on that. What was unbelievable that how people in those times can carve out proper architectural designs. They had common hall, bedroom, room for God. Most surprising part was multiple water reservoirs. In this modern era millions of dollars is spent on water conservation & those people used simple common sense to conserve water.

When you reach the top there is no other view. You can view whole of Mahad town. I was imagining how beautiful it would look during rains. Its already in my wish list to visit during monsoon.
