Caption Thazhathangady Juma Masjid Kottayam Kerala India.

Thazhathangady a suburban area of District Kottayam Kerala India. I stayed in Kottayam for 7 days and during my stay I could access this more than1000 years second oldest active mosque which is situated in this suburban area on the bank of Meenachil river.

First mosque is Cheraman Juma Masjid which was built during the Holy lifetime of Holy Prophet Mohammed Peace be upon him. As after Cheraman Perumal who embraced Islam and he couldn’t return to Kerala on his behalf Malik Bin Dinar Almighty’s Pleasure for Him a companion of Prophet pbuh and a preacher of Islam landed in Kochi and this mosque was constructed.
Thazhathangady Juma Masjid was built after this mosque. As many people they have embraced Islam in other parts of Kerala after the understanding of the Holy teachings of Holy Prophet pbuh and they settled here. This mosque is an excellent example of Kerala’s Architecture. Still it’s fascinating the tourits and believers. This mosque was built by Muslims with their own funds. Timber was mainly used in the construction of this mosque. It is very beautiful and attractive. Beautiful carving on wood is amazing. The Main Mihrab and Member in the prayer hall are very beautiful. Quranic Ayats are also mentioned. Very attractive water tank for ablution is made adjacent to the mosque. We were blessed to offer the prayer and this main prayer hall is preserved and new additions were added towards the eastern side. It’s a renowned heritage and active place of Worship.
Half an hour is enough to visit this mosque and the nearest attraction to the mosque is Mozart Art Gallery. It’s a major attraction among the history buffs wanderers soulseekers art and architecture lovers.

Thanks @rizbab28 for sharing very interesting information and photos with long history. I wonder why the roof of the mosque :mosque: is in gothic style, but not in typical Islamic style.
