I am noticing that more of the local guides we have are men,

Hi @Levite , while I (truly and honestly) believe that men and women are equal and equally imortant to maintain our society and the balance in that society, there’s undoubtably some differences between the two genders as how they behave in public and how they express themselves (and surely in other fields, too).

Certainly there are also cultural differences (based on region, religion, customs etc.) which may lead to a conclusion that there are more male LG’s than female ones - but also consider that the LG’s registered here at LGC might make about 1% of LG’s worldwide - so we never know…

I agree with @Csaba , what I can say more is that the average of contributions that we have in Connect from women is normally at highest level of quality.
