Не далеко от церкви Божьей Матери Скоропослушницы находится не большой сквер Покров Над Землей Кузнецкой
11 июня в епархиях Кузбасской митрополии состоялось празднование местночтимой иконе Божией Матери «Покров над землей Кузнецкой». В храмах митрополии были отслужены литургии и молебны Царице Небесной об избавлении региона от различных опасностей и стихийных бедствий, даровании его жителям мира, благополучия и согласия.
Идейной основой творения стали исследования сибирских ученых, согласно которым первыми в Кузбассе появились шахты «Николаевская» и «Покровская» (в честь Николая Чудотворца и иконы Покрова Божией Матери). Построены эти шахты в 1851 году на каменноугольных копях в селе Бачаты Беловского района. В то время эти земли принадлежали царской семье. Поэтому на иконе – святые Николай Чудотворец и царь Николай Второй. А над ними – образ Пресвятой Богородицы с покровом, являющийся символом спасения от невзгод и страданий. Между фигурами святых иконописец изобразил атрибуты угольной отрасли – террикон и копр. В нижней части иконы расположены духовные центры Кемеровской епархии – два кафедральных собора (Знаменский в областном центре и Спасо-Преображенский в Новокузнецке) и женский монастырь (в Ленинске-Кузнецком).
Чествуемая икона была написана в 2007 году известным иконописцем из Новокузнецка Леонидом Ключниковым и считается покровительницей горняцкого труда. Таким было благословение епископа Аристарха (ныне митрополита Кемеровского и Прокопьевского). Свой вклад в создание Богородичного образа также внесли Союз писателей Кузбасса и Кемеровское православное культурно-историческое общество «Стягъ».
Духовенство епархии совместно с инициативной группой по созданию горняцкой иконы написали к ней молитву о даровании безопасного труда шахтерам и о благополучии всего Кузнецкого края. Дата празднования иконе была определена на собрании благочинных Кемеровской епархии, которое состоялось 2 июня 2010 года под председательством владыки Аристарха. В основу своего постановления духовенство положило тот факт, что именно 11 июня 1993 года была образована Кемеровская и Новокузнецкая епархия.

On June 11, in the dioceses of the Kuzbass Metropolis a celebration was held of the locally revered icon of the Mother of God “Cover over the land of Kuznetsk.” In the churches of the metropolis, liturgies and prayers were served to the Queen of Heaven to rid the region of various dangers and natural disasters, to grant peace, prosperity and harmony to its inhabitants.
The ideological basis of the creation was the research of Siberian scientists, according to which the Nikolaev and Pokrovskaya mines were the first to appear in the Kuzbass (in honor of Nikolai the Miracle Worker and the icon of the Protection of the Mother of God). These mines were built in 1851 on coal mines in the village of Bachaty, Belovsky district. At that time, these lands belonged to the royal family. Therefore, the icon - saints Nicholas the Wonderworker and Tsar Nicholas II. And above them - the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a veil, which is a symbol of salvation from adversity and suffering. Between the figures of the saints, the icon painter depicted the attributes of the coal industry - the heaps and copras. In the lower part of the icon are the spiritual centers of the Kemerovo diocese - two cathedrals (Znamensky in the regional center and Spaso-Preobrazhensky in Novokuznetsk) and a convent (in Leninsk-Kuznetsk).
The honored icon was painted in 2007 by the famous icon painter from Novokuznetsk, Leonid Klyuchnikov, and is considered the patroness of mining work. Such was the blessing of Bishop Aristarchus (now Metropolitan of Kemerovo and Prokopyevsky). The Union of Writers of Kuzbass and the Kemerovo Orthodox Cultural and Historical Society “Styag” also contributed to the creation of the Virgin Mary image.
The clergy of the diocese, together with the initiative group for the creation of the Pitmen’s icon, wrote a prayer to her for the granting of safe work to miners and for the well-being of the entire Kuznetsk Territory. The date of the celebration of the icon was determined at a meeting of the Dean of the Kemerovo Diocese, which was held on June 2, 2010, under the chairmanship of Vladyka Aristarchus. The clergy based their decree on the fact that it was on June 11, 1993 that the Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk diocese were formed.
