Montréal- conquest for poutine

I have been to many countries in Europe and stayed in the most prominent cities in the world but nothing comes even closer to my experiences in Montréal. Montreal is a quaint little town which is a mixture of the French and English cultures giving it a flavour of Europe in the American Continent.

I am a hard-core foodie and I have been particular regarding trying the local delicacies during my visit to any region in the world, be it the Swiss Fondue, the Panipuri of Mumbai or the crepes at Champs Élysées in Paris. When it comes to Montreal, you are reminded of the Poutine, made of the cheesy potatoes and french fries with shots of Brown Poutine sauce and meatballs. I tried to taste it at many local restaurants with a normal taste ranging from the different amounts of sauces and spices until my Quebecer friends suggested me a popular place.

Ma Poule Mouillée or The Wet Chicken in English is known for its Portuguese style of Chicken and one of the best places for Poutine here in Montréal. If I could comment about the popularity of the place, the entry to the restaurant is an effort in itself with order queues ranging for a few blocks from the restaurant during weekends. I had my lucky opportunity on a nice pleasant Sunday in April and I ordered a large plate. People were gearing up in groups of 3 while it was me alone! damn, that challenge I made with my friends and I was sitting there looking at my future after eating. In these moments, I invoke my inner foodie who is my hero. I did finally end up finishing it whole making my friends regret their claims.

I would seriously recommend people to share this plate as it’s really heavy. The taste of poutine was surely better than most of the normal shops but they have a huge quantity of meat as compared to others. Also, the sauce is a bit similar which is less spicy (yeah, we Indians just love spices. can’t blame anyone for that). The ambience of the restaurants was great but one should take note of the peak hours of the restaurant which are generally the evenings. Also, I would recommend a drink to ease the pressure of a heavy meal. All in all, the restaurant lives up to its glory and is really a Gem in Montréal if you are interested in local Quebecois food.

That is a mighty hefty plate of poutine, @naitikbhise !

What kind of drink would you recommend for a heavy plate like this?

Yes, you are definitely right as it is a hefty plate and I had the least idea that having a drink as supplementary would do a bit better when I started the dish. I directly came home to have my orange juice after the whole episode.

So I would recommend something light like a fruit soda(Fanta) or a juice to soothe the dry feeling.
