I am really excited to share another monthly topic by** @HiroyukiTakisawa **This month’s topic is Bento – as I understand the concept it is basically a box of meal which we can carry while we are for a one day outing or picnic. Indian version of bento is something similar to thali or tiffin which here we should avoid food or ingredients which are not travel friendly.
I would like to share my homemade bento – in a Gujarati version
An Indian flat bread (widely popular in Gujarat) made using spices, whole wheat flour (sometimes gram flour is also added), fresh coriander or fenugreek leaves.
This salad is quick and healthy, it consist of sprouted mung beans, chopped tomatoes (it is recommended to use less juicy tomato or it might spoil the salad), carrot peels
Note: to keep salt and seasoning separately and add when we consume so that the salad doesn’t get soggy.
The Raw mango pickle is very popular in every Indian home, it is made in summer season and used for rest of the year and consumed with Indian meals.
Sukhdi is a very a Gujarati sweet (aka Gur Papdi) made with wheat flour, jaggery (gur) and clarified butter (Ghee). This is considered very healthy and also known to provide instant energy I added this as Gujarati meal is incomplete without sweet dish.
I don’t know much about Gujarati food apart from Dhokla, Khakra, Khandvi, but I really believe there is a huge number of food items probably missing from my platter till now. Thanks to @FalguniP for introducing us to this.
Going to add all those on my list and either I am going to prepare them myself while being locked down at home or rush to the restaurant which serves these best once things are normal around.
Hey foodie girl, my dear friend @FalguniP . Cooking is a art, where you are a artist. The explanations and the photos are well and good. Photos are very sharp and meaningful. Thanks for the post Falgu.
Hey @FalguniP … Your food post is awesome as usual. It’s very nice food post. Presentation and photography is too good. I am waiting to eat this . I am lover of Thepla. Sukhdi seems yummy. It’s very healthy dish you have shared with us. Thank you so much for the same.
That Gujarati bento stole my heart. Theplas and rice are the best way to have veggies in food which gives more nutrients in our diet. Great post @FalguniP
@FalguniP , this post itself made my mouth watering. Food presentation isIis also great. And I think you are using the tipsItips from Paul. Great photo captures.
Thanks for sharing this nice post @FalguniP I love the Thepla most. I must try this at home. In my village we also made one spicy bread but that is not thin like Thepla. I will share a photo of that soon here. Green mango and green olive pickle are also my favorite.
