It is said that there are about 20 hot springs in Japan that are attached to railroad stations.
I would like to introduce one of them, the hot spring located at Matsumaru Station in Ehime Prefecture.

Matsumaru has been a prosperous trading area since the Edo period (1603-1868), and many old-fashioned houses still remain in the area.
The hot spring located at the station is called “Poppo Onsen”.
It is crowded with local people. Open-air baths and private hot springs are also available.

You can use the footbath in front of the station for free.
The trains are not frequent, so it’s a great way to pass the time.
After taking a hot spring bath, drink some Ehime Japanese orange juice!
At Matsumaru Station, there are three trains known as the “Three Brothers of the Yodo Line”.
One of them is a Shinkansen-style train car.
The speed is slower than the Shinkansen 
.
When you take this train, be sure to bring a letter that you can send by mail.
There is a mailbox inside, and they will put a special postmark on it.

その駅にある温泉が「ぽっぽ温泉」。

列車は本数が少ないので時間つぶしには最適です。

松丸駅には「予土線三兄弟」と言われる列車が来ます。
そのうちの1つが新幹線風の車両です。
スピードは新幹線より遅いですが
この列車に乗る際は、ぜひ郵便で送れる手紙を持っていきましょう。
中に郵便ポストがあり、特別な消印を押してくれるそうです。
