The diameter is 190cm, and it is a very thick tree when you see it close by.

@yamamo_cchi Nice post and it’s amazing to know that Fukuoka city has so many preserved trees! Do you know if the majority of the trees are on their own like the gingko tree in that you mentioned in your post or is there a park that has a lot of old trees together?

I’m surprised too.
I think a lot of people have been involved with this tree throughout history.
I can’t thank them all enough!

Thanks for the lovely photos along with them!
There are many places in Japan that are lined with beautiful ginkgo trees.
I would like to introduce them along with these trees in the fall.
Both of them are lined with ginkgo trees near Yamashita Park in Yokohama City.

It’s a great landmark.
Kushida Shrine, where this tree is located, is another tourist attraction in Fukuoka!

Great pictures @yamamo_cchi the golden leaves of the Ginkgo in contrast with the blue sky is so striking.
The Dutch names for Ginkgo are Japanse notenboom (=Japanese Nut tree), Tempelboom (=Temple Tree) or Eendenpoot (=Duck Foot tree) for it’s leaf form.

It seems to be more often maintained by cities, shrines and parks than by nature.
Even the main street in my neighborhood is filled with golden ginkgoes in the fall.
This will be shown here in the fall.
I don’t know if they’re old trees or not, but the line of trees in the outer gardens of Meiji Shrine is amazing!
