Tokyo National Museum is about a 10-minute walk from Ueno Station in Tokyo. Great Japanese crafts, clay figurines, swords, armor, kimonos, etc. are exhibited here.

The quiet place I found is around the pond in front of the main building, especially after the evening. The museum usually closes at 17:00, but is open until 21:00 on Fridays and Saturdays during the exhibition period. It is a time set so that people can take a leisurely tour on their way home from work.
The other day I visited the museum for the first time during this late time. It was around 18:00 when I left the museum after seeing the exhibition. The sun is setting and the sky is completely dark. The visitors to the museum were sparse and very quiet. The main building and the adjacent Hyokeikan were also lit up and reflected beautifully in the pond.

On this day, a light-up event was held at the adjacent Ueno Onshi Park.

I usually come to this place during the daytime on holidays. Until now, many people were lined up to enter the museum. Currently, the system is such that people can only enter during the time reserved in advance so that people do not gather. There is no line to enter the museum. The museum was open at night and the park was lit up at the same time, so I was able to find a quiet and beautiful place.

東京都の上野駅から10分ほど歩いた場所に東京国立博物館があります。ここには日本の素晴らしい工芸品や土偶、刀剣、鎧、着物等が展示されています。

私が見つけた静かな場所は本館前の池周辺、特に夕方以降です。普段は17時に博物館は終了しますが、企画展が催されている期間の金曜日と土曜日は21時まで開いています。仕事帰りにゆっくり見学できるように設定された時間です。
先日私は初めてこの遅い時間帯に博物館を訪れました。企画展を見て博物館を出たのは18時頃。日が落ちて空はすっかり暗くなってます。博物館を訪れる人もまばらでとても静かでした。本館や隣の表慶館もライトアップされ、池に美しく反射していました。

ちょうどこの日は隣接する上野恩賜公園でライトアップのイベントがあり、これに伴い博物館もライトアップされたようです。総合プロデュースは照明デザイナーの石井幹子さん。

左上から時計回りに、美濃和紙の照明、長野灯明まつりの展示、省エネルギー関連企業のブース、公園の池から博物館方面。青い光はCOVID−19に対応している医療従事者へ感謝を伝える色です。
普段は休日の昼間に私はこの場所に来ます。今まではたくさんの人が博物館入場のために並んでいました。現在は人が集まらないように、事前に予約した時間帯でなければ入場できないシステムになっています。博物館へ入る行列はありません。
博物館の延長営業と公園のライトアップが重なった時に来れて、この場所を見つけることができたのはラッキーでした。
