#Monthly Topic of April: Your hobby - Aged Beauty

The topic of April: Your hobby

This post is part of monthly topic April 2020 by @HiroyukiTakisawa @Thank you so much for this interesting topic.

Stay safe with blessing everyone

My hobby was a hard one to consider. At first, I thought trains were my hobby, sake, and onsen, but these are not my hobbies, more like my way of life! If I had to pick a hobby, a real hobby, it would be doing photoshoots of matured beauty.

I have been doing this for years as a hobby, and I have my own business. I work in tandem with another Japanese photographer and we go out to temples and shrines to photograph middle aged beauty all over Tokyo.

( “ I have letter of consent forms signed”)

My favorite place to shoot is Sensoji Temple. I love to blend the tradition of temples and shrines with a beautiful matron because I feel the two elements compliment each other. Remnants of a bygone era in her eyes evoke a sense of nostalgia for me. The Jizo or prayer bead around her hands as she prayers is symbolic of a type of spiritual harmony lost in todays Japan.

The model in the picture was born in old Tokyo, sometimes we refer to women in her generation as Edo-ko ( girl of old Edo). She is the history of Tokyo in flesh form. The younger generation has embraced modernity. Every movement, twist, or turn is graceful as if the whole world is a stage and she’s the dancer.

Shot using Canon cameras and lenses ONLY. Aged beauty in Japan was a taboo topic in Japan 13 years ago, but since I came times have changed and my work has defined an entire industry covering all of Japan and finally spanning the world. It is not uncommon to find aged beauty in bookstores and ** other ** stores. All of my work is clean.

I like experimenting with natural light and shawls. Silks, polyesters, and modest fashions. Sometimes we do photoshoots of her drinking tea or eating ice cream while watching how delicate and graceful she carries herself.

@Ant_Bad_Yogi Why the different posts. What should I do? I recently wrote a post about what I do at home.

@Austinelewex What should I understand?

@user_not_found Basically @HiroyukiTakisawa will propose a topic every month. If we would like to join him, we will write a post in the theme of the topic.

I think your hobby of photography is interesting. If you would like to join us, you can write a new post explaining about photography, why you like it, show us some photos of your hobby. Something like that.

But if you already wrote some posts about your hobby, I think this is a good opportunity to tell us again about your talent. Maybe you can make it a bit different than your recent posts.

Hello @user_not_found thanks for tagging me. Though I have a lot of free time but I am mentally disturbed due to the COVID-19. So I think it would be tough for me to write a post on this. But I will wait to see a nice post from you soon. Please let me know once you published it.

@user_not_found I am a fan of you from the beginning of my journey in the connect forum. I love your posts very much about foods and other staff in Japan. This post gave me a nice but different idea about you. Thanks for sharing your hobbies with us. Regards.

Thank you for your comment, and yes, and as soon as we get through this pandemic I will resume, if any aged beauty is still around by that time ; ).

Hi @Ant_Bad_Yogi

Thank you. Yeah. I rarely lug my big camera around. Too cumbersome. I love taking food pics too. I am looking forward to your post.

Good evening @MukulR

Thank you for stopping by. It’s good to know you enjoyed my work, and that the food pics were enjoyable for you. My hobby is an acquired taste, so I don’t expect everybody to connect with it. The food pics will be returning soon. Are you going to do a write up on your hobbies?

@user_not_found Me too. I only carry a phone camera. It’s more convenient. :slightly_smiling_face:

Sure, let me think about it then I will share a post with you.
