Montella (Italy) where the chestnut is the top

Montella is a town of Avellino (about 30 km away) is about 800 meters above sea level and is very well known, especially in southern Italy, for its production of chestnuts. Thinking that, according to Campania Region data available online, has an average annual production of 7-8 thousand tons and the ‘Castagna di Montella’ participates in about 60% of the entire chestnut harvest of the province of Avellino. About 50% of the product is exported overseas, 25% is hesitated on European markets and only the remaining 25% is placed on national markets.

Every year (this year is the thirty-sixth edition) the city organizes an event that occupies the entire historic center with many stands (160) where you can eat, see and buy local food and wine, and try in all possible forms its famous chestnuts. Generally this event lasts 2 days of a weekend and is organized between the end of October and the first days of November (more information here http://sagra.castagnamontella.it/). With these few photos I would like to share with you how much my eyes have seen this year.

Ciao @VBenedict thanks so much by your kind reply and I’m happy to wake up sweet remembers in your heart. You are right: this “Castagna” is fantastic! Not so big but with unique flavour and sweet. Local people say because is produced in almost high mountain, but I guess that if you use love and passion in cultivation (…but in general in everything we doing) excellence is natural consequence  have a serene day

@CarmineDpC what @InaS is attempting to tell you is that you most always cite your sources; otherwise it could be construed as plagiarism.

In other words, you most list the publisher of the information you are quoting. The most common official citation structure is the MLA style

Yes @CarmineDpC the location and climate is as important as the skill of the farmer; the nurturing and dedication the farmer invests in his/her crop goes a long way as well.

Hi @CarmineDpC ,

Thank you the information you shared. Now I am even more intrigued to visit this city.

What I meant is what @VBenedict just explained. If there is anything you used in your post that is not originally yours, always keep in mind to put the source.

Ciao @davidhyno ,
