Sometimes we can’t see things with our bare eyes, but the camera can capture them; for those who like to take pictures, the photographer wants to spread his artistic work; we have arranged a Photowalk event today. A ‘Photowalk’ organized by the Rajshahi Local Guides community.
On Friday (December 23) at 8:30 AM on a foggy winter morning, we gathered at Rajshahi University’s Sabash Bangladesh Sculpture square.
How, when, and at which angle a local guide volunteer should take photos with his camera was discussed in the event, and mutual experiences with instant cameras were exchanged.
We have learned, early in the day, at sunrise and before dusk, is a perfect time to photograph. Participation of new local guides was lively, as we had several new volunteers who were unaware of local guides. Now they are interested in contributing to the maps. Above all, we visited different university places and took pictures together in groups.
Today’s event was very memorable; I learned to take 360-degree photos for mapping for the first time, which was unforgettable. Instantly a wide area is captured on the camera with one click from just a phone and a small 360 camera device.
I have found a food court that has been operating since 1980. Mr. Raihan’s father started Raihan Juice & Fuchka House, and now he runs the business at the Rajshahi University campus. This business is the main income source for his family.
Our Photowalk was organized by Google Local Guides Nahid Hossain, who was announced as Guiding Star of 2022 in the Helpful Hero category. He shared his contribution journey and inspired new local guides to keep constant contributions rather than counting points. He added, “When people try to do good things for society, the best happens to themselves.”
Time management and team management are some of the best skills we learn through these events. I have been motivated in a good way to arrange and attend more events that come up near my local area.
