Misuse of Google Map as following and followers.

I have reported many time for flagging potential policy or legal violations on Google Map . Noticed now days many misusers of Google Map especially followers and followings.

For privacy reason not attaching details, i have many followers without and contributions, It seems with out logic that there are such followers whose profiles are restricted while making use of others profile. Surprised so many followers and followings by many seemed to be something fishy.

Also notices many publishing just modelling pictures without other contributions for publicity for modelling, advertisement or marketing.

There needs strict control.Kindly advice!

Hi @jojo522

We all can be part of the solution.

Please see How to identify and report fraud on Google Maps and
You can now report entire profiles for abuse on Google Maps.

We have all seen Local Guides who frantically follows a lot of other Local guides with the hope to get a follower back.

The team has already taken steps against this by limiting the number of people you can follow to 10.000.

I totally agree with you @jojo522 , These behavior should be prevented on the map since it can not be a useful resource for location facts.

At first days of Follow feature I wrote a note and mentioned a tip to the community to follow only good users, but it seems the problem is more vast and needs Google control.

Dear @MortenCopenhagen , reporting was really better if Google implement our idea :slightly_smiling_face:

This is new to me that Google restricted followings to 10000. It is a good decision, but still I see users with hundreds thousands followers followings. how? Is this limitation for new followings?

@Amiran

The limit is on how many you can follow. Not how many can follow you.

I remember an LG who wanted help to unfollow thousands of LG to get under the limit. The only solution is to unfollow each and every profile one by one manually. That was perceived as a pretty harsh “punishment” as far as I remember :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :joy:

Oh, Sorry @MortenCopenhagen I mean “Followings” !! I edit my above comment, too.

Nice story :smile: What happened to his account that forced him to unfollow additional users?

@Amiran

I think he wanted to be able to follow some new people so he had to spend some hours unfollowing. So he did.
