I remember, three years back, when I clicked pictures of a Burger in a very dim light cafe, my friends asked me the reason for it. And I told them “To review it on Google.” They inquired if there were any monetary or promissory returns for it and I politely said ‘No’. Honestly, even I wasn’t aware of the Local Guides points, perks and levels back then.
Now, over 3 years later, I have inculcated a habit to notice unlisted places, unique facilities and useful features of a place. I observe the surroundings, and judge the lighting for pictures. And, all of this is to share authentic information for people and to create a source that can be trusted for its name.
I am on a mission to notice, observe, understand, take pictures, validate existing information on Google maps, edit it and share my knowledge about all the places I visit through reviews and photos.
Adding local businesses make me proud of what I do. Receiving the “Approved” email from Google Maps make me happy that I helped a new business in my own small way.
I thrive to take photos that show the real picture of my experience, as I believe a single picture can add a lot of credibility to your rating/review.
I use the Rate and Review feature of Google Maps as a medium to thank people for their service - be it a good stay in a hotel or an urgent medical help from a 24/7 Pharmacy. By giving them good ratings and honest happy reviews, I do my bit of thanking and helping them in their small/big business world. I love reading the replies from business owners appreciating me for my reviews and taking my feedback into consideration. When they promise to improve their services, it gives me hope that an honest contribution of ONE person does make a difference, not only to customers but to the providers, too.
I try to share references on Google reviews, to make people and business owners understand what made my experience good or negative. I do whatever I can, in my little way of adding and reviewing.
