Minnehaha Falls waterhole

This photo is of Minni haha falls and swimming hole in Katoomba, New South Wales, Australia - in the Blue Mountains.

The original name back in the 1800’s was Minnehaha Falls waterhole, but over time the name has had many variations and is now called Minni haha falls, which is what is shown in Google Maps. The other names it’s also been known as are:

Minnie Ha-ha Falls
Minna-ha-ha Falls
Minne-ha-ha Falls

The track to the falls was built in 1894. The land around Minnehaha Falls was owned in the 1890s by an American company called The Assets Realization and General Finance. Co. Ltd. It reminded the owner of Yosemite National Park, the first reserve of its kind in the world which was established in California in 1890, so the creek that feeds Minnehaha Falls was named Yosemite Creek.

The waterhole is popular with locals as it’s a 30 minute trek into the bush to get to - so it’s a bit out of the way for many tourists and visitors, but for those that make the journey they are always amazed at such a wonderful and stunning location.
