I am Adarsh T R, a local guide from India. I was excited to see the email for the application of the Connect event this year for the Local Guides. I went through the application form and saw that I have to be of atleast 21 years before the event. This question is followed by a drop down box with ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. The thing is, I will only be 20 by then. But if the age requirement is necessary, shouldn’t my application be cancelled then and there instead of doing the full application.
Please let me know about this ASAP. I would love to apply for this and participate and contribute.

The rule is clear.
A person should be more than twenty-one years old on the date of “Connect Live”. The reason is also apparent. That’s the lawful age in the US for the consumption of alcoholic drinks, which would be served at the event.
Nevertheless, even if you say no to alcoholic drinks, it would not be possible to do patrolling & hence the need.
The minimum age for the Local Guides program is 18 years old as stated by the Terms & Conditions of the program.
However, as stated in the FAQ section of Connect Live, participants must be 21 years old by the start of the event (ie. Oct. 11th, 2020). Yes, you still have the option to fill out the entire application but you would be considered ineligible for the event. Thank you for highlighting this. As @Shirley already mentioned, 21 is the legal drinking age in the United States and alcohol will be present at some events. We understand that you’d like to be eligible to attend this event, but we can’t make any exceptions. We encourage you to stay tuned to Connect and Local Guides on social media for future events that you may be eligible to attend.
