Middle Eastern Doughnuts

Luqaimat is a popular sweet dish eaten during Ramadan. They are small mini sized dough which are deep fried and topped with date syrup and sesame seeds. They are soft from the outside and crispy inside. Nowadays people are making a new topping with either chocolate or cheese filling but I like the original ones.

Many countries have something similar. What is it called in your country?
