Hope everyone is doing well during this crucial times. I miss going to the beach so much and I would like to share some of my beach photos I’ve taken of my beautiful city, which is Miami.
1. Miami Beach’s famous colorful lifeguard stands
2. Art Deco buildings/hotels
3. Sunsets by the beach.
Not only is thelifeguard stand colorful but it’s also of an interesting shape @linabeth . Hard to tell but is it a star shape from the sides? What’s the idea behind the shape?

I agree, the shape kind of looks like a star and this is one of my favorite lifeguard stands because of that star shape and the vibrant colors. Every lifeguard stand that you see at the beach has a different design, shape and combination of colors.
What’s really interesting is that the inspiration behind these art-deco lifeguard stands started when Miami was hit hard by Hurricane Andrew.After Hurricane Andrew destroyed many of the lifeguard stands dotting Miami Beach, the city made a choice to revive the city with designs by Architect William Lane to create replacements. Almost immediately, the lifeguard stands became an illustration of the city’s revitalization and cultural renaissance. One theme that is represented in all of the lifeguard stands is the vibrant colors with unique shapes since Miami is known for it’s art deco appeal. 
Those are some really vivid photos, @linabeth ! I personally haven’t really taken the time to check out the Art Deco inspired buildings and hotels but it’s definitely something I’ll consider once things get back to closer to being normal. Most of my time is usually photographing around South Pointe as you’ll see some from of my photos

Hi @linabeth and thank you for the detailed explanation about the shape of the lifeguard stand. Having seen many lifeguard stands / boxes around the world, I’ve never seen any as elaborate as this on Miami Beach and as well as the colors, I was intrigued by the shape.
Like you @SP31 I’m more familiar with the South Pointe area which your photos clearly remnd me of.

Your photos are absolutely beautiful! thank you for sharing. South Pointe is one of my favorite places to go for a walk around the pier and watch the cruise ships depart Miami. 
@AdamGT Indeed, I don’t think I have seen any other beach with cool and colorful lifeguard stands like the ones in Miami beach before. If you’re ever in Miami beach, you should check out the art-deco hotels, they’re all over south beach!
