What is the Explore the Maps Challenge? (New Update)
Every week, we will share with you the icons and hints of famous places of any one country here. When you find that place, you have to answer it in the quiz given here. You have to choose the correct answer from the four options given below each question.
The fascinating part is that if you’ve ever visited that place, don’t forget to share a photo with us so that our Local Guides friends may see it through your eyes as well.
Note: Please don’t post your answers publicly. So we can make this challenge a little more interesting.

Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is a country in the southern portion of North America. It is bordered to the north by the United States; to the south and west by the Pacific Ocean; to the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea; and to the east by the Gulf of Mexico. Here are some hints to find out places:
- It is one of the most important museum venues in Mexico and America. It is designed to house and display the archaeological legacy of the peoples of Mesoamerica, as well as to account for the current ethnic diversity of the country.
- It was inaugurated by Porfirio Díaz in 1910 to commemorate the Centennial of the war of independence
- 10,000 people can fit inside this temple and up to 50,000 people in the esplanade.
- It’s located in the Historic Center of Mexico City. All the main architects, painters, sculptors, gilders, and other visual artists of the viceroyalty worked at some point in the construction of this religious temple. All the architectural styles that were in force and vogue in the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries (Gothic, Baroque, Churrigueresque, Neoclassical, among others) can be enjoyed in their architecture
- This building has 5 murals by Diego Rivera on its walls, in addition to the mural of the main staircase, which was painted between 1929 and 1951. You can admire all of them for free.
- It was designed by the Italian architect Adamo Boari, who included mixed styles of Art Nouveau and Art Deco
- This place is sponsored by an important Mexican businessman that honors the memory of his wife and bears her name.
- In 1896, in one of the rooms of this place was held the first exhibition of cinema in Mexico. You can enjoy the best landscapes of Mexico City from the balconies of this place
- It is one of the richest and oldest architectural jewels in Jalisco. In its atrium, there is a bronze sculpture of Pope John Paul II, along with a boy dressed as a charro, representing the state of Jalisco.
- Originally, this construction would be the Legislative Palace of the Porfirio Diaz regime, but its construction could never be completed. Finally, it became the symbol of the fall of that president.
