Merging User Generated POI into Google Certified POI

Hi All,

This is a part of :fire_engine: LOCAL GUIDES CLEAN THE MAP PROJECT :fire_engine:

In India we have seen at many of the POIs that are certified by Google have been copied and a separate user generated POI have been placed on Maps beside the certified one.

I am making this post to keep track of such places that should be merged together and inviting everyone on this board to participate and post such POIs in your area that you believe should be merged together. Also, I will post the links to the places at Google Map Support Forum because ultimately they will handle the merging process.

Here is the format of how you can post about such places:

POI (Original): Sealdah

POI (To be Merged into Original): SEALDAH RAILWAY STATION

Here you can identify which POI is original by seeing the POI icons:

:point_right: 1. Train Station

:point_right: 2. Subway Station

:point_right: 3. Tram Stop

:point_right: 4. Bus Stop

:point_right: 5. Beach

:point_right: 6. Mountain Peak

Thanks

Hi @DibyayanC

The term “Google certified POIs” is not helpful since such a thing does not exist.

You may find the following post from my Easing Frustrations series interesting and relevant:

Also, when using the term “Merge” I suggest always indicating the direction. Merge X into Y. Otherwise, the direction is unclear.

Cheers
