This is probably the best hiking trail scenery wise in Yosemite. This is a 8.5 mile trail one way either from Yosemite Valley to Glacier point or the other way around. This is still on my bucket list to complete this hike.
I did a partial hike from Glacier Point, covered around half of the trail and returned back to Glacier Point.
Going down hill from Glacier point is relatively easier.
Generally folks do one way hike and arrange a ride on the other end. You can take a bus to Glacier point by parking the car at the valley, do the hike from Glacier Point to the Yosemite Valley. It’s one hour ride from valley to Galcier point on the bus.
View during the hike is just spectacular, I ended up shooting tons of panoramic shots. As you continue on the hike you will see the back of the half dome.
However we may have to wait till 2022 to do this one way hike. Buses are cancelled due to COVID-19 this year and in 2021 Glacier Point road is going to be closed due to planned construction.
More shots during the hike. You get to see several water falls if you complete all 8.5 miles
Wow @jayasimha78 this is very beautiful thanks for sharing it with us here on connect. You good photos taken as well. You may like to see my post about Liberia as well, it’s a beautiful city. A Link here if you don’t mind and thanks again.
I’ve been to Yosemite once and found it so beautiful so I wrote an article about it on Connect: The Absolutely Epic California Park: Yosemite. However, I didn’t get the chance to do hiking trails since I didn’t stay long enough there, which is quite a pity. Thanks again for sharing this post with us! I really hope I could make another visit to Yosemite soon, and hopefully, get to hike!
@ChanneLing Thank you!. Thanks for sharing nice pictures and your post. This park is definitely worth visiting many times. Even though I have visited several times, I have still so many things to explore in this national park.
It is certainly a magical place on this earth @jayasimha78 I would love to spend more time in that park. I climbed to visit the waterfalls and on some of the rim trails and covered most of the valley floor on foot.
Perhaps on my next trip I will do some abseiling (rapelling) on those amazing cliffs.
We had plans to visit and stay at a place called Kennedy Meadows (south-east and about 2 1/2 hrs from L.A.) later this year and was also thinking about doing that part of the Pacific Crest Trail that runs through Yosemite (Tuolumne Meadows) but this pandemic put a spanner in the works to that plan. There’s lots to see and do in that part of CA, a great escape from the city and totally off the grid - bear country!!! There’s a famed fishing river there called the Kern, not far from Kennedy Meadows, that also sparked my interest (fishing, kayaking, white water rafting, spectacular views, freedom).
Wow @PaulPavlinovich abseiling or rapelling (possibly with a cam on your helmet) although dangerous sounds very, very exciting! I’ve seen some great videos of rappelling down El Cap in Yosemite!
