More than anything else I remember my trip to the US for the first experience of snow in life. That was in Detroit when visiting the GM Tech Center. And not just me even people around me were amused to watch me seeing snow for the first time. They were happy for me.
My first experience with lawn mowing also came in the US when I visited Cleveland in Ohio during the Spring of 2019. I stayed at my best American friend’s house in his fenced spacious 3BHK bungalow. He had reserved one of the bedrooms just for me. It was a dream-come-true for I have always stayed in a hotel during US trips and this lavish house was straight out of a Hollywood movie.
On the backside of the house were sprawling lawns and Bruce, my host told me it was mandatory to maintain the lawns in the backyard and also in front of the house just as it is mandatory to remove snow from these areas during winter.
Bruce said the first mowing of the spring is like a baby’s first haircut before demonstrating to me how to operate his Gas-Powered lawnmower. In the US Gas means petrol or diesel. Then he went on to explain that the best thing to is to take a little grass off at a time, and then decide if more is needed.
The lawns should not be mowed when the grass is wet due to the risk of slipping and injuring yourself. Also, late afternoon or early evening is the best time for lawn mowing.
Here I am standing in front of the lavish house of Bruce and in the background are a few of his many cars and small trucks entering or coming out of his automatically operated parking garage.
As you can see Bruce wearing a big smile along with his cap from his recent visit to California Redwood in Humboldt County. Thank you my dear friend for an amazing life-long experience.
