Meetup Singapore

Hi,

I’m organizing a meetup tomorrow evening for a visiting local guide. Does anyone else in Singapore want to join in?

Meeting location is at City Hall MRT, exit of the fare gates. 18 April Wed, 6.30pm. https://goo.gl/maps/FHeLxwFauJG2

Look out for me I’ll be having a Local Guides backpack and orange local guides lanyard.

The plan is to have a photowalk around the Marina Bay sights and also some local food for dinner.

Please PM me if you are coming so that we will wait for you. If you want to join later, please also let me know in advance!

Hi @JulienH ,

As it looks like this is the first time you are hosting a Meet-Up, so here are a few articles that will help you out with the organization:

Good luck and I hope to see your Meet-up soon! Please, don’t forget to take photos and share your stories about the Meet-up here on Connect.

Regards

@KlaudiyaG thank you for your suggestion.

Unfortunately this is rather last-minute due to the late notification of the other LG’s visit. So I don’t think I can put up an official meetup event.

Anyhow I have reached out to some others and looking forward to see if others can still turn up.

Thanks for posting @JulienH

I’m in KL, if not would love to join you guys.

Even though it’s a last minute invitation, let me tag @Shirni she might be interesting in attending

Regards

I have updated the post with time and location for meetup and photowalk!

Please join if you’re free!

Ahh! It’s great to have little spontaneous get-togethers when other local guides are travelling through your beautiful city. I was in Singapore for no more than 14 hours before I flew back to Sydney earlier this year. We went on the red buses to various places, looked at the Marina Bay Sands and went to the Night Safari. So I know where City Hall MRT is and its surroundings to an extent.

Have fun at your hangout Julien! Next time I’m in Singapore, I’m definitely gonna post up.

@Briggs wow you went to Night Safari on a 14 hour layover? That’s super efficient!

You must have seen alot of things.

If you can let me know earlier, we can try to arrange something! Hopefully not too last minute as it would be better if we can clear our schedule or invite more people along!

You must come and try more of our food

Sydney’s lovely. I want to go back some day.

I was probably also half-asleep as well. I can’t really sleep on planes unless I have three seats to myself so I can lay down on all of them, ahah! I remember falling asleep on one of the bus tours and woke up wet because it rained. But I think we did the majority of the tours, just missed the really long one. But efficient is a good adjective.

I definitely will. I also love planning ahead, so I won’t keep you on your toes. Let me know if you come back to Sydney as well, we’ll gladly do the same. The food I had in Singapore was pretty much Monster Curry, Old Chang Kee and Ippudo Express at the airport (Japanese actually), but I will for sure dine with some of the locals this time around and eat to my heart’s content. ^^

Was this yesterday, April 17? I just saw the message today. Who’s in town from LG?

I’m in! Hehe… Already set aside my time for this. Cheers @JulienH .

@JayDJ it’s for today 18 April. Sorry I have updated original post to make it more clear.

Are you back in SG? It’ll be nice if you can come.

Me and two indonesian LGs will be there.

Again, if anyone you are confirm coming, please PM me or message me before hand so I know to wait for you before we move off. Alternatively you can join us later but it’s better if you have a fast way of contacting me like Hangouts/WhatsApp. =)

Yes, I’m back in SG.

Unfortunately, can’t make it. Late notice and wifey’s sick. :frowning:

Regards to the other LG’s in town and do enjoy the sights around the city

@JayDJ take care. catch up with you next month!

We had a wonderful meetup!

Here are @SamuelEdyson @Ddimitra and me having dinner

And then we got to catch the light and music show at Gardens by the Bay. This is strongly recommended. There are two shows every night and it is freee!

From there you can take a nice walk through the garden and you will reach Marina Bay Sands. You will know this from the famous photos of Singapore, especially the hotel with the swimming pool on the roof. Here is another selfie of us.

Bonus for @Ddimitra she gets to watch two performances tonight! Due to some good planning of time, we can watch both as there is another light and water fountain show at MBS.

Well that was a good time catching up with my Indonesian friends, hearing about their Local Guides experience, and most importantly learning new tips about how to upload videos to Maps. If you want to know what are the tips we talked about, you’ll have to come visit me in Singapore!

Looking forward to the next meetup!

What a fun experience during my trip in Singapore. I went there for business trip, turn out I could have a full day to explore Singapore. My main purpose was just taking photos for Google Maps, so I did not intend to spend a lot of time on 1 place, because I am not an ordinary tourist. I am a Local GUIDE. LOL

I want to be accompanied, so I tried to contact Singapore Local Guide. I asked @RahmatHarmanP from Jakarta Local Guide about Singapore Local Guide, so he gave me @JulienH Julien Private Number, also he gave @SamuelEdyson Batam Local Guide number.

When I contacted Julien. Turn out I got warm welcome message from him. Suddenly I got message from dd Batam Local Guide, Samuel. That he wanted to join our meet up. I was very happy about that. A meet up in other country? COOL

What I remember the most,

We saw the Super Tree Show on Garden Bay, We had to sit on the floor and looked the show above us. And after the show, we still sat and talked to each other on that area, while every one left  Three of us sharing information and knowledge about Google Maps. so Cool!

I learn about 360 from @SamuelEdyson , and @JulienH share his story about becoming Level 10 and his experience during Local Summit 2017.

I got many photos for Google Maps on that evening. Yippie!

What I trully impressed from them both. They are very humble and helpful. @SamuelEdyson helped me bring my heavy bag, helped me took my photos, while @JulienH guide me around MBS, took me to MRT stop which was on Bugis. We seperate at 10 PM.
What a memorable Night!

Thank You @JulienH for your kindness and hospitality. I really looking forward to meet you again in Jakarta. That time, it’s my turn to take you around. Hey… this offer is not for Julien only, but for Local Guide happenly in Jakarta and need some accompany for exploring Jakarta in order to get photos for Google Maps, simply, just Private Message me.

Great meet up with @Ddimitra Jakarta Local Guides & @JulienH Singapore Local Guides. I have been to Singapore my whole life but I have never been to Gardens By The Bay and Marina Bay Sands during night time.

I also got to shoot some nice 360. Hope to post it soon! Meanwhile, here is an awesome 360 tiny planet photos.

Hope to see you again Julien and other Singapore Local Guides also. Cheers…
