Meetup not being approved?

Hi Everyone :sparkles: , I’m managing a few Meetup this year. I got acquainted with local guides from different countries through Google Local Guide. There is previous experience, I am missing this time very well.

The last 2 days have been a problem with my local guide account. I have submitted 2 times we meetup, but it has been canceled. 3rd Meetup is waiting :face_with_thermometer: :face_with_thermometer: . I don’t know when it will be approved.

In my location country I would like to manage the Meetup of a local guide. What should I do now? Thanks

A meet-up is normally rejected for a few reasons:

  1. The meet-up is not related to Connect, Google Maps or Local Guides topic
  2. The meet-up on the event site contains private information
  3. Some information (like the link to the event site) is missing
  4. The access to the event site (e.g. Facebook) is not accessible publicly

For more details, please check: How to submit a meet-up on Connect

Can you please share the link of the meet-up on the event site were it has been created, for us to check?

I suggest you to read the tips by @KarenVChin and me on RECAP: Create Local Guides Virtual Meet-up Invite Talk

Thanks for sharing the link @user_not_found

The meet-up content seems to be fine, however is addressing to company (Qatar Local Guides ) that:

  • It is not a company - that information is misleading, as it looks like Local Guides are an “Information Technology & Services” and this in not true
  • Is using copyrighted material. This may end on a Legal Issue and is is against the Local Guides Program Terms and Conditions : “The Local Guides logo is a Google brand identity and is reserved for official use only. Do not use the Local Guides logo, pin, or any other Google imagery in any of your online or offline materials without expressed written permission.

As it appears that you represent a so-called company, this could also result in a suspension from the Local Guides program. According to the Local Guides Program Terms and Conditions : “Organizations, brands, and businesses are not eligible for the Program.

I personally think it is necessary for you to thoroughly review the rules already mentioned, to be sure not to give a misleading image of the program and the role of Local Guides
