Sunday 21/08/2016 The Rio Olympics ended with a spectacular carnival-inspired closing ceremony, and the official handover to 2020 hosts Tokyo after 16 days of competition, featuring 11,303 athletes from 206 nations, a refugee teamand well supported by 50,000 volunteers around the world. Britain finished the Games with 67 medals - their highest tally at an overseas Olympics. I met so many great athletes during Rio and London Olympic and fortunate enough to listen their great stories of success. Few things were common in all stories- Hard work day by day for many years, Sacrifice, Focus, determination and keep learning.
I remember in London Olympic 2012 I was sitting next to Lennox Lewis (world heavy weight Boxer) for some hrs in the bus which carried Olympic Torch bearers. We both were in the last few people who were going to carry Olympic Torch so we both had to stay longer in the bus. When I asked him ‘‘many people wanted to go to top of their career, what is your advice’’? He said ''Hard work, Focus, sacrifice, determination and keep learning’'. He said there were many people during his time wanted to be a great boxer but they lost the focus because they wanted do so many other things before reaching the destination. Lennox said ‘’ he sacrificed lots during earlier time of his life but now he has everything and enjoy the life. These 5 words from Lennox Lewis has a significant impact on my life.
