Meet -UP RECAP : JANTAR MANTAR ( A Glimpse into India's Astronomical past )

I recently visited New Delhi, India’s capital, where I attended a meetup organized by @AjitThite Daa on Jantar Mantar :round_pushpin: , which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. It was built by Indian king Maharaja Jai Singh, and the main purpose of building this astronomical instrument was to study the universe, time, and the movement of the Cosmos.
King established four additional Jantar Mantras in various cities.

Before traveling to this location, we gathered at a market known as Janpath Market. It was a really significant moment for me because it was my first physical meeting with us connect senior LG and other friends, whom I had never met before. Attendees were greeted graciously, and I never felt like I was seeing them for the first time. @NareshDarji sir, @TusharSuradkar sir, @TravellerG sir , @PrasadVR ji, @Raj_Tayade ji, @Prince_Kumar , @LovePathak28 , and newly joined our community @pK19931 were waiting outside the gate , and I joined them. Now we proceed into the market and explore what shops are offering here. They are selling.

This market was busy, and business owners were making numerous offers to purchase their items. They were also friendly and asked for tea, but I declined and joined our party, which was going to see the world heritage site Jantar Mantar, which is just 200 metres away from this market.

We gathered around the ticket counter of Jantar Mantar Ajith Daa and Traveller G sir joined us here outside the ticket window, he was sick but our love or affection brought him back with us in such serious connections, they arranged tickets and we all entered inside this Historical Heritage, that was built for astronomy and time detection, our ancestors used these places to measure the harmony of the universe, how Heavenly bodies behave.

in fact, it was a centre or hub for those interested in astrology. This campus contains four different types of yantras namely: Samrat Yantra, Jayaprakash Yantra, Ram Yantra, Mishra Yantra .These yantras are very useful in measuring the rotation of earth, sun, moon, stars and galaxy from this place.

Samrat Yantra: or the Supreme Sundial is a gigantic triangle which is essentially equal to a sundial of hours, its height is 70 feet, its length is 114 feet and its base is 10 feet. It has a hypotenuse of 134 feet long, is parallel to the Earth’s axis and points towards the North Pole.

The Virat Samrat Yantra can calculate local time with an accuracy of two seconds.

Jaiprakash Yantra: This Yantra consists of a half empty hemisphere with a pattern on its concave surface. It is the most complex and versatile tool that gives the coordinates of celestial bodies in the equatorial coordinate system.

RAM YANTRA : Two large cylindrical structures with open peaks used to measure the star height as a function of latitude and longitude on the earth.

Mishra Yantra: This Mishra Yantra is a design of five tool to measure the shortest and longest day per year. This can be used to determine the afternoon of the time of different cities in the world, whatever their Distance from New Delhi . Only this Yantra is exist inside the premises and was not invented by Maharaja Jai Singh.

The site is a haven for astronomers and explorers, but it has recently lost its influence and its survival is in jeopardy, walls are warped and none of the instrument’s work. This place is under the ASI of India which is responsible for care taking. I have seen development work taking place in this place but not linked to any structural change and advancement .This place needs major rejuvenation or advanced treatment to preserve this Historical Heritage. Will this ignite a spark in the minds of young people to take up the study of time and celestial bodies? But now the place will be used as a protest site, a sort of laboratory converted into a horse stable. If the government and ASI are planning to make this place more advanced or technological then it will be a significant contribution to the time history.

As we are planning to go for snacks and food after the meeting, LG love Pathak and Prince Kumar suggest to visit the temple near this place.

The name of the temple is Shree Lakshmi Narayan Temple and all three of us went there to take the blessings of the God.

In this place phones are prohibited and you are not allowed to enter inside the premises with your phone or camera device.

After visiting this temple, we Decided to go Local restaurant back to this temple, Name Prasadam Food and Snacks , Environment of this place was good and food was being prepared by the cook.

The ambience of this place was very good but the food options were limited so we ordered, Aloo chaat and Prince ordered Pav Bhaji and love Pathak Tikki Chaat, the food was delicious and the manager was also helpful and very friendly so we ate the food and took pictures for writing write my review :woman_singer: of this restaurant the manager asked me about the Logo embroidery on my chest so I gave him some information about the Local Guides program and GBP and how GBP can be used to increase customer influence in Business.

He thanked me and promised to join the LG community so I gave him some local guide stickers.

After that I went back to my friend’s apartment in Noida where I saw a big building with amazing infrastructure.

I will publish post on it soon how , I edited business there .

so please write your thoughts about space and celestial bodies in the comments section Stay tuned.
