Scheduled a meet up and seven people registered, none showed, and when i looked every profile had only reviews from abroad…something amiss with how Google promotes these?

I can remember, my first meet-up i was… the only one… but I did my photowalk, and even posted some photos from the event 
From my experience, expect no more than 40% of the registered attendees to a meetup (at my last meetup i had more than 110 registered attendees, but at last, around 50 were able to reach me!); and try to involve them using email or anything else you can (including phone, if you have); create a registration form on Google Forms https://www.google.it/intl/it/forms/about/ to add engagement and ask for details.
Google will not promote your meet-up in a special way, if you submitted the form for featuring, you will have your meet-up in official agenda, and that’s all you can and you need to have.
