One of the happy things is meeting local guides directly, especially from other countries. So far we have only interacted on online platforms and connected, but yesterday (1st December) we had a meetup and welcomed @KashifMisidia , a local guide from Karachi, who is also the connect moderator. I, along with local guide @NunungAfuah , Local Guides Mughits, Local Guide Nurul and Andi, took our time to explore Surabaya with us.
1st Stop: Kopitiam Kapuas Hulu, Surabaya, Indonesia

After picking up the station at 7 o’clock we stopped at Kapuas Hulu Kopitiam, because the Local Guide is one of the staff there and manages this shop. Very surprised because at 7 o’clock it was open and ready with a variety of menus ranging from heavy, light to dessert menus.

Many other menus were ordered but not photographed. It’s a delicious breakfast that’s warm and not too heavy. After midday we decided to explore the museum in Surabaya. We visited the Bung Karno Birthplace Museum and the Hos Cokroaminoto Museum. But before that we visited the historical cafe, Lodji Besar. A cafe that has old ornaments and stores historical items.
2nd Stop: Lodji Besar Caffe, Surabaya, Indonesia

Lodji cafe is not far from the 2 museums you will visit. The place is comfortable and can really create a flashback of history during the colonial era.

Lodji Besar is a cafe that adopts a classic 1940s feel. Every visitor who comes seems to reinforce the nuances of Dutch history. The shape of the building, which resembles a 1940 house, seems to invite us back to the city of Surabaya in the past.

We ordered coffee and snacks as usual to fill up our energy before continuing our journey.
3rd Stop: Ir Soekarno Birthplace Museum

This museum actually a house. After moving from Bali to work teaching in Surabaya, Mr. R. Soekeni (Soekarno’s dad)and Mrs. Nyoman Rai Srimben (Soekarno Mom) lived in Pandean alley 4. On June 6 1901, in this simple house, Koesno (later changed his name to Soekarno), a son of the nation who would later become became the first President of Indonesia. At Bung Karno’s Birth House, there is a collection of the family travels of Mr. R. Soekeni and Mrs. Nyoman Rai Srimben and Soekarno in the form of video mapping and Augmented Reality technology which provides a new experience for visitors to Bung Karno’s Birth House.
4th Stop: Hos Cokroaminoto Museum

H. O. S. Tjokroaminoto’s residence was inaugurated on November 27 2017 as a museum for the Surabaya City Government as well as a historical tourist destination by the Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini. Located on Jalan Peneleh Gang VII Surabaya, the house was not only used by National Hero H. O. S. Tjokroaminoto and his family as a place to live, but also as a place where movement figures from various ideological backgrounds such as Semaoen, Alimin, Darsono, and Tan Malaka met and dialogue. The H.O.S Tjokroaminoto Museum has 143 collections related to the H.O.S Tjokroaminoto residence.
This museum is a depiction of Hos Cokroaminoto as Soekarno’s teacher and his father in-laws.
Thank you dear Local Guides Buddy @NunungAfuah and also Local Guides who is good and willing to help make it happen.
