From my professional perspective, a director role in engineering is not an easy task specially in large companies like Google. As a director, you are often responsible for managing cross boarder teams in the different timezone. The role not only involves overseeing work goals but also ensuring the personal and professional growth of every team member. While I can relate to some of Xinmei’s tasks, I believe she is handling one of the most challenging responsibilities every day.

I really loved reading about her journey and how she turned a personal challenge—traditional map reading—into a strength that helped shape features like Live View. That’s such a powerful reminder that our struggles can become our superpowers :flexed_biceps:

Also, her thoughts on intentional time blocking and prioritizing “me time” really resonated with me. It’s something many of us need to hear more often!

.. even more difficult with Google Maps: in the cities the main roads names are not visible, I first noticed that in Summer 2023 and it is still like that.
I created some screenshots for a posting at the national product forum and the answer was: probably a feature o_O

Additionally I tag @ErmesT as a reknown street-mapper :wink:

Translation of the caption: for national roads (Bundesstraßen) as important main roads there are no names visible at that zoom level, but for the rest yes..
There are missing: [street names around Barbarossaplatz Barbarossa square]
