As I and my wife were touring the Famous Chittorgarh and without Meera Bai’s it would have been incomplete. As we always enjoy our travels by rich history and cultures of India.
Meera Bai was a Princess of Marwar, a part of Mewar Royal family after marriage with the eldest son of Maharana Sangram Singh.
After the death of her husband, she lived a simple woman’s life. All the royal comforts were abandoned and oppressed and remain immersed in Krishna devotion and his boundless love, along with the most famous poetess of the sixteenth century. She holds a top position in the world for her devotional songs in her unique Rajasthani language. As these songs are sung in the North India and throughout the subcontinent. She was a saintly poetess, a social reformer and a centre of devotional drive by her devotional poems.
This temple is situated in side the walled campus of Kumbhshyam Temple. It was built by Maharana Sangram Singh in Sixteenth century for Meera Bai. Sand stone is used in its construction. Main sanctum is dedicated to Radha Krishna and Meera in the colorful Rajsthani traditional dresses. It’s an excellent example of Rajput and Hindu Architecture. This is the only temple dedicated to Meera Bai. The beautiful carvings on the ceiling, beams, capitals and columns of this temple are extremely attractive with various religious motifs including the one Sculpture having one head and five bodies.
It’s a very popular attraction among all the tourists including the history buffs wanderers soulseekers and devotees. Meera mahotsav remain an attraction once every year on Sharad Purnima which is the birth anniversary of Meera. This festival is organised by Meera Memorial Trust. During this festival renowned musicians and vocalists pay their respects by her poems and songs. So is a major attraction.

Life of Meera Bai has always been a point of interest for me. When i was in Std. 8th, i came to know about the great devotee of Lord Krishna, Meera Bai. Then onwards, i gathered a lot of information about her life.

I love very much the poems of Meera Bai. Just I love to share about Abdurraheem who was the Navratan of Akbar and was popularly known as Khan e Khana was a friend of Tulasidas who we all know the great devotee of Lord Rama whereas Khan e Khana was the devotee of Lord Krishna.
