Me too Love 💓 Adding Missing Places

Hello Fellow LGs,

I have been adding the missing place for last SIX + years. Yes the speed was quite slow and hence so far only 99 such places are added by me.

The important is that it is making impact to the society and people are becoming aware of such places. No matter few or more but what matters is that it gives me immense satisfaction that in some small way I am contributing to the community and making them well informed about the places through my contributions.

One of such added place is below which I added two weeks ago.

Photo Caption: Two weeks ago this place was added which has got 200+ views as on today

If you also love to add missing places, comment in the box as “**Me too love adding missing places”.

Keep building the informed community together.

@Kumaarsantosh Thanks for your link to this thread. Just as I said to @AdamGT in the other thread, I see that just like me, you’re getting emails about views of a specific photo of a specific place. There aren’t any notifications in my inbox that can point me to the total accumulated views of all “new place” photos that I added.

Hello @tony_b ,

The screenshot in the cover page of my post relay to the view of newly added place and not for the photo contributed.

Please read the text in the screenshot “Thanks to your edit, hundreds of people discovered Bread Talk”.

Here Bread Talk is the name of the place I have added. However you may not get such repeated emails/notifications.

So, if you have added a new place and that has got discovered by other people significant in number you will get such notification.

Thanks @Kumaarsantosh . I fully understand.

Will continue to look out for the other type of notification that @AdamGT mentioned.

@Kumaarsantosh I believe that finding and adding missing places on Maps is one of the hardest things to do because of the shear number of people and Local Guides now out there adding reviews and photos of places and of course businesses doing it themselves, so don’t be hard on yourself. And the other thing of course, it’s very much location dependent, some countries and places just don’t have the same guiding opportunities. Notwithstanding, how do we find missing places? I plan to share my thoughts on this soon.

Yes it seems that we are talking about different emails @tony_b and @Kumaarsantosh , one indicating views of specific locations and the the other a more general email indicating the views for all missing places added. Interesting!

Yes @AdamGT it should be a pleasure doing this and not a pain.

While we should be looking out for such opportunities to add missing places we must keep our cool and calm intact.

One should not go after this aimlessly.

However, pleasure and enjoyment should be there and with that if something great coming on the way just grab it.

This is going to help the community in coming future. Your guidance here is much appreciated :+1: .

Google is incredible @AdamGT .

It keeps us giving new learning opportunities everyday so that one should not become complacent  .

This way Google is also helping new comers in LGs family and give them equal opportunities to learn and brush up their knowledge and wisdom.

Hello Fellow LGs,

Happy to share with the help of my original post that so far my added places on Google map has had a great impact. It touched the 5 million views as confirmed by google.

Thanks @AdamGT for initiating your post for capturing and looking for such impactful data.

@tony_b you might have received such email from Google for your added places or in future you might get in case your added place/s have significant impact. It’s just a matter of time, it will come.

Well done @Kumaarsantosh on your achievement and I see that that’s more like the Google emails I am talking about.

Very good @Kumaarsantosh

Added to my earlier searches, I just took the exact words from your screenshot and tried to find “views on the places you’ve added”. The only results that came up were the notification emails of the posts by you and @AdamGT .

I just had a strange thought. In the same way that Google Maps doesn’t allow people in my country to add roads, perhaps there’s also discretion in not allowing us to see certain types of notifications. Let’s not worry about it any further.

Very good @Kumaarsantosh . It seems like they tease us with different types of messages to keep us addicted. Today I got a message about the total number of reviews I’ve posted, but no indication of how many times they’ve been read. Then it went on to tell me that one of my recent photos reached 1000 views.

Very true @tony_b .

That’s their tool to encourage and motivate LGs to come forward and continue with their contributions.

They have got free hand and leveraging them well.

That’s one part of the story but the more interesting and important is "we are doing it for our pleasure. It is our passion to explore and contribute to the world driving us more than such teasers and at times some small token of gesture from Google like for example Google Map Pinâ˜ș’.

What to say!
