I keep reviewing places for the first time, but I’m stuck on 49. Over the past few weeks I’ve been the first to review 5+ places but my 49/50 score hasn’t come up keeping me stuck from having this badge.
Hi @Sonandmereviews “Welcome to Connect! If this is your first visit, you’ve come to the right place. This post will serve as a guide for everything you need to know about contributing content and engaging with the Local Guides community on Connect”. This is the first of the information that you will find in “Your guide to Connect” , the introductory Guide of the community. In there you will find all the necessary information to know how to better contribute in here.
First of all I want to inform you that I just released your post from spam quarantine. Our filter is working to protect the community and you from unwanted content, but sometimes it can be triggered by something and remove a legitimate post. Moderators are patrolling the quarantine to release the good post so, if your post has been rejected, don’t post it again. Simply tag a moderator (check here and here). For more information you can read: Why was my Connect post marked as spam?
Regarding your issue, it can be caused by several reasons. The most common:
-
The counter of that badges is not updated continuously, and sometimes the number can stuck for a week or more. if this is the case you will get the badge in a few days
-
Some of your review is hidden (made private by the system). As your profile is hidden, I can’t confirm the numbers of your public reviews.
To check the visibility of your reviews you need to change the status of your profile to unrestricted by switching to Off the Restricted status
On your Android and iPhone, open the Google Maps app:
- In the top right, tap your profile picture.
- Tap Settings > Personal Content > Profile Privacy
- Switch to off (unrestricted) the Profile Privacy switch
- press this link to open the pop-up menu and select Open in Incognito tab
On Desktop:
- From the Main Menu select Your Contributions
- On the Contribute tab click on Profile settings and Switch to off (unrestricted) the Profile Privacy switch
- click on View Your public profile
In this way you will be able to see what is public visible, and understand if, and how many reviews are hidden.
If you have hidden reviews, you can try the following steps:
According to what you see
- If some review is visible and you believe you haven’t violated any rule, please follow the indication of this post for the team to check your account
- If some review is visible and you believe you have violated some rule, please follow the indication here: Flag and fix inappropriate content
Do you have a doubt about how to do something about Connect or Maps? The Help desk is here for you, with a long list of post with detailed indications on how to post.
Which kind of contents we share in the community? What are Connect topics? will give you an explanation
Hi @Sonandmereviews ,
Thank you for reaching out. I would suggest you have a look at the comment above by @ErmesT , where he shares some great advice with you.
Please note that I moved your post to the How-tos board. Here, you can ask questions and swap advice about the Local Guides program and Connect. Thank you!
I took a look at your now unrestricted profile.
I can confirm from your public profile that you have added 1694 reviews and only 836 of them are public.
Google has automatic filters that hide your reviews so only you can see them. This can happen when some of your reviews violate the review guidelines.
Read about typical review guideline violations here.
If you are on a Desktop use this link to Count your hidden contributions. From a mobile device use this link.
If you want to identify which of your reviews are hidden please see this post.
Please use the form called Account investigation for contributions not visible on Google Maps if you believe that some of your contributions have been wrongfully unpublished. Please note that it can take several weeks for the check to be done, and you will not be notified about the result, so I suggest you check the status of your reviews once a week or so.
After fixing your hidden reviews your badge will automatically be fixed also.
Best of luck
Morten
I’m still having the same issue, my other figures are going up, just not the first review even though I’ve been the first to review on quite a few over past week.
As mentioned above this is due to lots of your reviews are hidden. Solve this and your badge statistics will become correct.
Cheers
Morten
