Master reviewer badge not earned as likes tally not updating

Well hello there! I am categorised as an expert reviewer with Local Guides. I had exceeded criteria to reach master reviewer, except for likes, until a number of months ago, when I reached 50 likes. However, my badge hasn’t been changed to master reviewer, even though all criteria now exceeded. Nor has my likes tally updated, despite receiving an email several weeks ago confirming 50 likes (which I received ages after actually reaching 50!) On my profile it stubbornly shows only 49, which I believe may be causing my new badge to be delayed. I have since received numerous more likes. I thought I would leave it a while, thinking there may be a delay for my likes tally on my profile to be updated but it is taking way too long it has been several months now. What is the reason it is taking months on end for my tally to be updated and therefore to receive a new badge? I haven’t removed any of my reviews. Any advice would be appreciated, as I’m not sure that all my stats are correct now. Sorry to sound negative, I held off from enquiring for quite a while. I am guessing there might be others also missing out on new badges etc. Nerida

Not sure what’s going on there Nerida. Hopefully your post will draw the appropriate attention, so they can fix it for you. Best of luck.

The metrics do not necessarily update straight away @Nerida it can take some time. Just verifying that you are talking about likes of your reviews on Maps? Just asking because Likes here on Connect do not count and people sometimes get confused about it.

I doubt this is your case but if you get a lot of likes from the same user or device over a short period of time they may be discounted as an attempt to game the system.

Thanks @PaulPavlinovich for your explanation and I’m not including likes on Connect at all, only on my reviews for Maps. They’re quite rare for me overall lol I guess I have a smallish number of reviews on my profile. Yes I get there’s a delay, it has been several months so far. I don’t think I’ve had multiple likes or runs of lots of likes simultaneously cos if/when I get one it’s, wow!! Haha so for me to reach 50+ is quite an effort!! But understood, maybe it’s still in the pipelines if they take a number of months to update the tally. I’m not including likes on photos I have on Maps either, only likes for reviews.

Hi @Nerida if you open your own profile in an incognito browser without logging in how many reviews do you see? Is it the same number when you look when logged in? Oh and I gave you a few likes - let me know if it makes a difference.

When I said delay I was thinking more like 48 hours to 7 days not lots of weeks :).

Perfect question @PaulPavlinovich it shows on my profile login I have 110 reviews and looking at my profile on an incognito tab without logging in it shows 98 reviews which is less than 100 being the threshold for the Master reviewer level, there I was thinking it was likes. I don’t think I’ve added 12+ reviews in 7 days lol. Let me know as I don’t think my likes are being updated very quickly either and any additional like is always welcome, I just luckily got another one today lol. Thanks for your likes too, cheers, much appreciated, I like to spread likes when reading reviews I’ve found helpful! :heartpulse:

I checked my number of likes for reviews by adding them up manually in my incognito view as an “outsider” and tallied 53. On my profile login, it still shows 49. I believe the overall total is a bit above 53.

There is a known issue thread for missing reviews, but its not the main topic of this post so I won’t merge it.

It’s hard to say exactly why some reviews make and some do not. Algorithms.

Your like count on your public reviews should catch up. I think I put on three or was it four? Not sure.

Hopefully things will sort themselves out when you get a couple more reviews. If you want some ideas you may not have considered, are there local parks, you could review ones you’ve visited (or just go visit one) helpful things in the review that I tend to mention are things like toilets, picnic and bbq facilities.
