Caption Martyrs Well Jallianwala Bagh Amritsar Punjab India.
The main purpose of the Amritsar tour was to visit the religious and historical sites located in the city. And this decision was appropriate to calm the curiosity. While living here, I learned a lot about sacrifice, service and faith.
Reached Jallianwala Bagh in the morning, sad moments and cries of helpless and innocent people were shocking me at every step. The massacre of unarmed and innocent people, a blood shading by the ruthless and cruel General Reginald Dyer, one of the British, considered civilized. This incident took place on 13th April 1919 in the evening of a Black Sunday. Peaceful protesters including the pilgrims who were gathered to mark the Baisakhi a major Sikh Festival as new year of Sikh Calendar, faced the rifle bullets which was ordered by the Dyer. About 400 to 1000 people lost their lives, attained martyrdom and thousands were injured. Every point is preserved and exhibiting the cruel face of British. Like the point from where unarmed innocent people were fired by British Indian Army on the order of General Dyer, the well in which people jumped a monument and sign of immortal martyrdoms, bullet markes on the walls etc.
I could not control my grief and sorrow. It seemed that those helpless people massacre was happening in front of me, mourning and sorrowful screams were echoing in my ears. My whole being shaken and trembled with this painful scene.
This memorial is dedicated to all the martyrs who were victimised by the cruelty of British General.
It’s a major attraction among the patriots, history buffs wanderers soulseekers. Golden Temple a Sikhs pilgrimage is located at a walking distance.
