“marching towards level 8 in the quest for ‘beef with puttu or porotta’ continues…”

In spite of varied culinary delicacies available in Kerala, the South-Western Indian state, ‘beef’ irrespective of being in a curry form or fry or dry fry or roast, you name it, have been the best companion for porotta or is it better with puttu…and being an enthusiastic Keralite foodie this has been the main debate in my head.

  • Porotta is a layered flatbread made from maida flour, popular in Southern India.
  • Puttu is made of steamed cylinders of ground rice layered with coconut, a breakfast dish originating from Kerala.

En route to find an answer for this debate I started my journey and thought of letting people know about the restaurants through Google Maps. After finding out that as a local guide I can be of assistance to this community by posting about places I visit, let it be a restaurant or a religious place or malls, it has become a hobby for me now. The way I try to find a place and the perspective of a place from my point of view has changed drastically as I now concentrate more on knowing about the place rather than just visiting the place.

Me from being a person visiting restaurants I come to know about by word of mouth or by reviews in media or others…has transformed to a person trying to visit every restaurant available for my journey ahead. By this way I found out that the best beef with puttu combination is from a roadside restaurant and beef with porotta is from a star-rated restaurant.

This finding does not cut short my journey, but opened a broad new level of searching for restaurants.

Before even realizing to my astonishment I reached level 7 in my quest and this journey has made me an even bigger fan of Google Maps or ‘wait a minute’ beef…whatever now I do not know whether I should thank Google Maps or beef, they both take me to places I guess. On this note I feel my responsibilities are going to increase only to find an answer for my quest and make myself a better local guide to assist my community to find places and I will be on my way to quench my thirst for ‘beef with porotta or puttu’.

Before I bid adieu, I assure that I will be on the roads to showcase my part of the world through Google Maps be it for wanting for more beef or places to visit and let us hope that the debate continues on and on….
