Maps to connect - Me and the Local Guides program

People in the past were living in a world with less connection. This has already changed by the arrival of the internet. We started to build connections between each other. Social networks appeared and through these channels we came closer to each other. We can easily exchange huge amount of information. The same happened on Google maps.

Maps are playing an important role in case of traveling. By the help of maps we can easily find the correct way to our destination. As Google created Local Guides program this whole thing leveled up. Now we can share our reviews about places, like restaurants and museums. We can also edit these places. This is a huge and amazing chance to help each other. Just a little useful review or post can help others to find the information what are they looking for.

I started my Local Guide “career” not a long ago. When I started I was a bit confused how to use it, and how will it work. But I rapidly realized that this is my way, to help people. I prefer posting longer, detailed, quality reviews not just pictures, because I always have something to tell about. And as I can see users of Google Maps appreciate my work.

As I am a usual person from a very little country (Hungary) I thought my posts won’t be useful, but I was surprised how many people take a glance on my reviews and give a like. This is the best motivation to keep posting and sharing photos and experiences. Sometimes I post in three languages (Hungarian, English and Russian) to express my thoughts widely.

On the other hand I am also a user of Google Maps. So I can also benefit from others by reading their review. If I am looking for brief and short info about a place, then the first is to check the reviews of other guides, sometimes it can be better than a blogpost when time matters. This is what Google Local Guides program means to me.

I am proud to be part of this community and I hope we go together further to reach more and more people!
