Maps in Wakhi Script.

Wakhi is an endangered language as of UNESCO, speaking in four border countries, Pakistan, China, Afghanistan and Tajikistan and some other countries as well which includes Russia and Turkey. As a native speaker and to preserve the local names I was initially very keen to develop an Atlas of the valley, called Gojal, the largest Tehsil of Hunza District in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. We collected some 3000 local names during a research work and was planned to develop village maps in Wakhi Script to save the originally of the local names even very minor location names, tracks, fields, pastures etc. So far I have developed three villages maps for the interest of the people how to read these names in IPA based script.

the maps can be accessed in pdf for more clear view. Maps in Wakhi Script.

I’m not sure what you’re asking for in your idea, this seems to be more of an announcement @alimusofer ? Would you like this moved to the Local Stories topic where more people are likely to see it?

Consider making a tour using Google Earth and Google My Maps to preserve the history. You can read more on how to do it https://www.google.com/earth/outreach/learn/creating-a-narrated-tour-in-google-earth/ this would reveal your history for the entire world to see.

@PaulPavlinovich as you suggest, would be more relevant.

Hello @alimusofer ,

The Local Stories, is a section where Local Guides share inspiring stories of why they like to be Local Guides and how they contribute to Google Maps, or examples of the positive impact they have on their communities. Therefore, I’ve moved your post there.

To learn more about each topic you can check How to choose a topic for your Connect post.
