Map Question

When the page comes up for me to write a review on places I’ve been to over the past few weeks it never shows a location.

I go to many restaurants in different cities and on various streets, etc.

For instance, one day I might eat lunch at McDonald’s on Jefferson in Dallas. Later the same day I might have to get an order for a relative or friend.

Next day I might eat lunch at an On The Border in Mesquite, three nights later I may have dinner at the one in DeSoto.

When it comes up for me to review, it only says the name of the place I was at, not the address.

And, it may often show places I don’t remember stopping near that I know and would like to write a review for but am not sure if it was the same place.

Anything that can be done would be highly appreciated! Just by adding the address.

(Note: I don’t usually write a review when I’m with a customer or a date.)

Sometimes maps does not record the POI that you visited. Maybe if you did not stay there long enough, it will not take notice.

If I want to ensure that I have my place recorded so I can later add the review, I open my maps app on my mobile and/or take some pictures ( do not forget to turn GPS locator function on).

Then again, some places were positioned on the wrong spot, so maps will tell you that you have been here and there, but it is just not true. Just open the POI and check its location. If you see that it is wrongly positioned just try to correct the coordinates. Sometimes that won´t work and you request may be declined, but it is worth a try.

Another issue may be a multi-story building, where you have been on one floor but there are other POIs on other floors as well, below or above you. That may also cause a wrongly attributed visit to a POI.

For me, personally, it is much more convenient, and I feel more comfortable writing in my own time.

Occasionally I get an email from Google telling me what a great job I am doing and asking if I would contribute more. Well, since I only read and answer emails on my personal time, I only write and contribute to the Google Maps page during my personal time.

But, yes, you did have a good and reasonable answer! I greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Hi @bobcat2 ,

For it to work, you first need to ensure that your Time-Line is activated. I have mine set to private so only I can see where I have been, when.

When I am visiting a place that I wish to edit or review another time, I open my Maps App, let the GPS pinpoint where I am and select the business that I wish to ensure is on my timeline. The moment Maps shows you the info on the POI, instead of writing the review I Check In. It is the button where Maps asks: Are you here now?

Another (alternative) solution is to create a list in your app where you save places that need your attention as a Local Guide. The procedure is almost the same, you only click the Save on the POI info-page.

Happy guiding!
