Map Mistake

Hi Local Guides! :waving_hand:

I recently came across an Electric Vehicle Charging Station listing on Google Maps while looking for a public EV charger in Vadodara.

When I reached the location, I found that the place is actually a PM E-Bus Seva Depot. There are charging facilities inside the depot, but they are for the PM E-Buses, not for the general public. The premises are also restricted, so an ordinary EV user cannot simply enter and charge their vehicle there. :bus::high_voltage:

What makes this confusing is that there are apparently two different pins at the same location: one for the PM E-Bus Seva Depot and another one labelled as an electric vehicle charging station.

For someone searching specifically for a public EV charger, this could be quite misleading. They may travel to the location expecting to charge their vehicle, only to discover that the charging facility isn’t available to them.

I don’t have a problem with the PM E-Bus Seva Depot being listed. The issue is with the separate EV charging station listing, which doesn’t appear to represent a publicly accessible charging station.
I also didn’t take photographs inside because the depot is a restricted area.

Has anyone else encountered similar cases where a bus depot’s charging infrastructure has been listed as a public EV charging station?

I think this listing should be verified and corrected or removed if it isn’t intended for public EV charging.

Here is the link of that EV charging station:- Google Maps

I agree with you. Charging stations that are not for public use should not be in Google Maps in my opinion.

Try removing it as “Doesn’t exist here” or “Permanently closed”. It will likely not be approved as most charging stations are managed and protected on Google Maps. In that case you will need to contact the owner of the charging station.

PS: Please include a link to the charging station on Maps.

Sure, I added the link!

The pin was likely added by a Maps user and not by the company, as it was not claimed and lacks the usual technical details (plug types and KW details). So I tried to remove it.

Please do the same.

There is a good chance of getting this approved.

I also reported as the day you reported. But it’s still there; no change!

Such issues are better dealt with in the Google Maps Help Community.

It would be an easy fix for the product experts.

Thank you very much, MortenCopenhagen
The problem is solved now.

Fantastic. Thanks for the feedback.
