map edits taking forever to approve or reject

I’m curious to know if a business near me closed up and a new one opened up. same location. I reported it closed…Created a new add a place…Even posted many pics and full review on Maps…

Still shows in edits…Pending???

however in the interim someone added same business a week after me it was approved and is now listed…yet mine like many changes still for some reason lie in pending status sometimes for months and months??

what gives??

Hello @TruckerKev

Welcome to Local Guides Connect.

There is a invisible Trust score.
You can not see it, you cannot count it, but it exists. Trust score based on your contribution. Such as photos, edits and reviews.

There some reasons of decreasing trust score like If you upload the same photos over and over again,
If you write Review but You have never been there,
If some of Lgs report to Google Maps that your Photos or videos unrelated to that place
Or
If you upload some body else’s image, and the Google Maps find that it is belong to other people.

So once your Trust score decrease, than it’s hard to add Missing Place or just Edit it Or it takes too long in approval.

Moreover this article Why is my edit status “Pending” or “Not Applied”?

Will surely helpful for you.

What was my point of view I described above, I could be wrong too, so we must wait for further help by our senior mentor @ErmesT .

Further you can edit your post and select the right category which is How-tos , there you can get rapidly anwers by Moderators.

Wishing you best of luck.

By mistake my comments posted twice.

Trusted score is more a tale than a real fact @KashifMisidia , otherwise nobody will have a first edit approved.

@TruckerKev , please check the article shared by @KashifMisidia

Writing a review and adding a photo on a place that you declare as “Closed” do not help to show that the place is closed.

There are basically two procedures to replace a POI with another one:

  1. The one followed by you: Closing a POI and Creating a new one. When closing a POI, Google will ask you to share a photo. The perfect photo to share is the storefront, where the new name is shown
  2. Changing the name of the place: Google Maps will ask you if the place is the same, with just a different name, or if it is a New business. Confirming that it is a new business, you start a sequence of operations that will close the old business and create a new one

Also you don’t know if you were the first to suggest the edit. Maybe someone else did it before you, and with your edit you confirmed the edit made boy someone else

Hi @TruckerKev ,

Thanks for sharing!

In relation to the main inquiry, what @KashifMisidia and @ErmesT kindly shared would be sufficient as information that you may check further.

In the meantime, the current post would be with a changed category to How-tos, as it reflects better the subject.
