Many people signed up to your meet-up from other countries?

So I have a lot of people from southeast Asia who signed up for my meet-up. They don’t seem to be traveling and are quite low on the guides scale…so I’m pretty sure they have no idea what they were doing and aren’t coming to my meet-up tomorrow. I’ll probably sit there waiting for no one…

Did you ever have this? Am I doing something wrong?

Hi @KingLionheart ,

You haven’t done anything wrong, you shouldn’t feel disheartened. I’ve seen many Local Guides traveling from country to country for a Meet-up. Even if this is not case you should continue by yourself :).

Hi, @KingLionheart .

I’ve hosted several Meet Up in city (Malang, Indonesia - SE Asia). And, yes, something like this is several times happens. Local Guide(s) that from a city, or even country, far away that seems almost impossible for them to attend the Meet Up is signing up at the RSVP page. And as I expected, they’re not attending the Meet Up at the D-Day :slightly_smiling_face:

In my opinion, as I’ve checking their level/activity in Connect (I’ve doing this for research-sake), they’re new here. Maybe they just not understand yet about what is Meet Up actually means.

In my opinion, just take it easy. I always count my Meet Up attendees as 2/3rd of the Local Guides signed for the Meet Up. The 1/3rd are never showed up :))

Hope you’ll be successful with your meet up, @KingLionheart :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @KingLionheart

This is happening to everyone of us.

It is quite unfair if for your meet-up you are arranging badges, or make reservations in some place for the attendees to have access.

For this very reason I have suggested a couple of tools for the Local Guides who are hosting meet-ups:

Of course, if Google will implement these tools we will have to use them carefully, but I really hope this will discourage people to register to a meet-up just for fun.

Organizing a good meet-up require time end energy, so it is quite discouraging to have registered people that will never appear.

Do not give up. I agree with @VasT about Local Guides traveling from country to country for a Meet-up, but in my case (I have four meet-ups on the next weekend) I personally knows the attendees
