Maharashtra is one of the largest & most beautiful states of India. The majority of tourists of Maharashtra prefer to travel and go on adventures here during the cool, dry & winter months between November and April. But I think Monsoon is the most desirable season to explore Maharashtra because of its bloom of natural beauty and wildlife during rainy days.
The much-awaited monsoon season hits Maharashtra around 7th of June & by the end of June most parts of Maharashtra are covered by the velvety envelope of greenery. Maharashtra being a prominent agricultural state, farmers here welcome the monsoon season with delight, it gives them a reason to celebrate and pray for good crops. Monsoon in Maharashtra results in scenic charm as the rivers flow on full swing, mountains awaken after a long sleep and monsoon decorates entire valleys with sparking waterfalls, magnificent lakes, lush green trees and fascinating flora.
Taking this advantage, my family and I plan one day trips to explore different parts of Maharashtra to witness the breathtaking displays of emerald bloom that come along with the showers. We have enjoyed a number of beautiful waterfalls of Marleshwar in Ratnagiri, Amboli in Sawantwadi, Shivtharghal near Mahad & Malshej in Pune. And we look forward to many more such tours to come in the lovely Rainy season.
