Mandu also known as Mandavgarh is a ruined city in the Dhar district, now best known for a fort built by Baaz Bahadur in memory of his queen Rani Roopmati. Between 1401 and 1561 it was the capital of a Muslim state in the north of India. One of the biggest fort here is Jahaj Mahal, Jahaj Mahal (in Urdu Language ‘Jahaj’ means “Ship” and ‘Mahal’ means “Palace”, the “Ship Palace”). It was so named, since its reflection (illusion) in the surrounding reservoir looked like a ship floating on a lake.
It was built during the reign of Mandu Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din Khilji, who is believed to have as many as 15,000 women as his consorts. To accommodate the women belonging to the royal consortium, Jahaz Mahal was built in second half of the 15th century.
Here are some of the pictures I took of Jahaj Mahal.

Hi @AnshukMitra , first of all Mandu is a place of forts, monuments and sceneries so I suggest you to visit the whole city. Normally people use to take there own mode of transport but you can hire a local 4 wheeler from Mandu as well, they will visit you the complete city.
Also this city is near my home town so let me know if you visit Mandu, I would love to help you to suggest the best accommodation and food in Mandu
, and best time to visit here is in Monsoon.

Thank you @ApooravNigam for all the information regarding travel. I will surely visit it in future.
Please remove your personal contact details from here as it’s not encouraged.
Once again thank you
Great posts, nice pics! Over here in western Europe, we weren’t told anything about India nor its rich history and culture. Only about Mother Theresa and the fact that most Indians were starving in the streets… I have been to India professionnally but haven’t really visited the country… A disgrace, I know…
