Hey peeps! On December 3, I had a simple meet-up in Manchester to watch the Manchester Christmas Parade! Unfortunately, I was in a meet-up party of one i.e. nobody else was free to join in the festive fun! But I turned my frown upside down , grabbed a hot takeaway coffee
and waited it out for the parade
to swing by my chosen spot in front of St Ann’s Church
.
Typical of Manchester’s weather, it was wet, cold and grey! And because I wanted to get a good spot to capture some photos and videos, I was there early to beat the crowd! Anyway, here are some photos and a full video of the parade!
Overall, the parade lasted about 25 minutes or so, and it was pretty good. I enjoyed the numerous costumes and ‘puppets’, although the star of the parade, Richard Parker, was unfortunately missing! It might have been because the weather was quite overcast with a high chance of a drizzle so Richard couldn’t be operated outdoors…but I’m just guessing! And if you’re wondering, Richard is a fictional character (a tiger actually) from the Life of Pi book; the stage show was touring in Manchester at the time.
Anyway, I hope that you’ve enjoyed this brief recap of the meet-up. Do watch the video (it’s not that long) to get a glimpse of the festivities… some of the costumes are a bit bizarre (dinosaurs at Christmas, anyone?!) but they are all good fun and the crowd loved them! If you have any questions, fire away in the comments below!
And because we’re only days away, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and happy year end festivities with your loved ones, whatever and however you’re celebrating the end of 2023! And may 2024 be a great year for all!
