Day 3: Mallorca Vacation - Palma De Mallorca - Day 3
Our Day 4 in Mallorca was very interesting. We had to take almost all types of transportation to reach our destination Torrent De Paries. We started with our rental car to reach the Ferrocarril Railway Station at the Plaza de Espana in Palma. Then we had to take a train to Soller. At Soller we had to transfer to a tram to get to Port de Soller. At the port we had to catch a boat to reach Port de Sa Colabra. Then take a hike through couple of tunnels to reach beach at Torrent de Paries! Journey itself made this most interesting day in Mallorca, ofcourse both Port de soller, Torrent de Paries were really spectacular. Journey reminded me of the movie Planes Train and Automobiles. There was no plane involved here though!
Here is the route of our journey. This is when I realized I was not able to set different mode of transportation for each segment in Google Maps. If someone has figured this out, please let me know. That will be a great feature.
Here is a shot of Ferrocarril Railway Station, where we boarded train to Soller.
Here is the shot of the train we took to Soller. This is a more than 100 years old narrow gage train. The train journey from Palma to Soller is one of the most scenic train rides. The train route takes through the stunning Tramuntana Mountains, passing through tunnels, and brdiges. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way. Journey takes around one hour. It also has a stop, where we were able to get down and take some pictures and strech our legs.
Here is a shot of people getting down enjoying views and taking pictures.
Here is one of the pictures captured in the above train stop before reaching Soller.
Once we reached Soller, we had to transfer to a Tram to reach Port De Soller, Tram station is right next to the Train station. You can see folks waiting for the tram to get to port de Soller.
Here is a picture of the Tram.Port de Soller is really beautiful, it is surrounded with hills and houses on those hills.
Shot of people getting down at tran station in Port De Soller. After getting down here we bought a ticket for the boat which took us to Port de Sa Calobra. In fact we just made it on time for the boat.
Shot of the boat which took us to Port De Sa Calobra and Torrent de Paires
Ride on the boat was also very enjoyable, able to capture beauty of Port De Soller from the boat. Also there were couple of stops on the way at couple of beaches.
Here is a shot of light house we found on the way.
Shot of folks enjoying the boat ride.
Shot of boat docked at Port De Sa Calobra. From here it was a short hike to Torrent De Paires. We had to walk through couple of tunnels as well.
Here are few scenic shots captured during the hike.
There was a natural window in the tunnel through which we could watch the ocean.
Torrent de Paires, is a small, unique and spectacular beach. There is a small opening to the ocean, otherwise mostly covered with rocks.
Closer shot of the ocean and boats from the beach.
Here is one of the tunnels we had to pass through to reach the beach.
Shot of Port De Sa Calobra and some restaurants.
This was our boat on the way back! Again we had to take, Boat, Tram and Train to get back to Palma. End of the day we visited restaurant called Urbe, enjoyed Sangrias and delicious food on their menu.
Day ended in a nice dinner and Sangrias in a restaurant called Urbe in Palma.
Few Screenshots from Bollywood Blockbuster Movie Pathaan starring Deepika Padukone and Sharukh Khan, some scenes were shot at Torrent de Paries
Some of my Indian friend LGs may recognize above shots from recent Blockbuster movie Pathaan. Part of the song Besharm Rang is shot in Torrent De Paries. You probably recognize the tunnel Deepika and Sharukh walks through. We knew some parts of movie were shot in Spain, but was able to identify this specific location when I watched the movie!
