When planning a restaurant visit, many times you are curious on the menu and what kind of food you might expect. How large are the portions, does the food look good and freshly prepared, do you get any salad or other sides with the main course, how many alternatives are there on the buffet? and so on… Sometimes the web pages of the restaurant give you quite a good idea about some of these things but many times the information is lacking.
This is the reason why I love to take pictures of the food at restaurants I visit. Especially when planning a visit to a pricier restaurant, you don´t want to get disappointed and realize that the buffet had no fresh bread or no chocolate alternatives for desert (!). By looking at good quality portion/food pictures uploaded by Google local guides, you can prevent these kinds of disappointments. A picture says more than 1000 words and I can much faster browse desert pictures than read through reviews mentioning the word desert. So many times, I have myself used food pictures to decide which restaurant to go to.
I would like to encourage other guides to always snap a picture of their portions or the buffet table in connection to writing a review. It really help fellow restaurant visitors choosing where to go or what to order. Especially if the web (or facebook) page of the restaurant is very plain or even non existent(!).
Good restaurants and cafe´s also deserve to have - not only the word abut it - but also picture proof of their delicious food spread across the web ?
