The biggest reason that motivates to contribute to google maps and to be a local guide is to make the world more acessible for all and help information to be easily available.
I love putting up reviews of places and taking new photos but the truth is that I spend a lot of time cooking at home, and something really important for me is to buy high quality ingredients, preferably organic.
Rio de Janeiro has many Street Markets only for organic items that have quite acessible prices, but unfortunately not many people know about it.
that’s why it’s important for Brazilians to add street markets like these:
usually these markets happens only once a week.
Organic markets are often a bit more expensive than traditional street markets but it’s really important that we buy with them and incentivize them to keep producing.
This way we’re eating cleaner (less poison) and helping local producers to grow.
Here in Rio it’s usually easier to find greens and vegetables on organic markets than fruits, it’s way smaller if you compare it to the US huge organic markets, but little by little it’s growing and I believe we may have more options like that available in the future and with more acessible prices for everyone.
Maps makes it easy to add a street market and update its details in a way to make information easier to reach and to add cool photos like these to make it easier for people to understand how is the place and what is available.
There are street markets like that in your city? What do they sell, only veggies and fruits or kind like everything? Are they usually cheaper or more expensive than traditional markets? Do you help to map them as well?
ok @TsekoV the only point I saw I could improve is the length of the article, just edited it and added some more useful information.
super curious to hear the responses of people about that, the movement to eat organic and cleaner is still quite small in Brazil but i hope it grows in the future.
couldn’t see if I’m missing anything else.
thanks a lot for the comment and to link the rules.
