Making Maps more accurate in countries with less digital penetration

The dream of every person is to know new places, new people, new habits and new cultures, my dream is to be able to transform all this into information that connects to the whole. In a country like India, where the digital revolution has just started, It is necessary to provide the crucial information like maps and places to these new internet users.

Maps provided by the government is not accurate most of the time and it is the duty of the volunteers like Local Guides to make it accurate and provide recommendations to these people. In Order to achieve map accuracy that is comparable to that of the developed countries, I think we need to have a different approach using the local guides community of google maps.

Taking my city for example, Chennai is capital of one of the most urbanized state in India. But still the Maps and Information regarding places are not accurate once we go to the Economically Backward Regions of the city as well as the Sub-Urban region of the city.

My Suggestion is to use the Local Guide Community of my city to build a team with each volunteer assigned to particular locality and try improve the maps on His/Her own free time.If the folks at google like this initiative, they can support those hard working local guides by motivating them by offering them some perks or doing something to instill a sense of achievement,so that they can keep doing what they do better the life of the community. This model can be replicated in any part of the world and finally,I would like to thank all the local guides who make the life of million better by their contributions.
