Making maps better, day by day

It all started with me frustrated by inaccurate display of a place on the maps I visited several years ago. Although the hall was 2 buildings behind than what was shown on map, it took almost 3 kilometers and 15 minutes to find and reach that place. How do you solve this, I asked? This was the first time I suggested a correction on Google Maps, and who knew my journey with the Local Guides Community had already begun.

Now, this has become a routine that wherever I go, the maps is open with me searching nearby places, checking if the information on maps actually matches with the reality. Photos is must, and reviews are definitely written in my spare time. I still cannot figure out, what motivates me to do all this stuff but something deep down feels good that I have done my part in improving Google Maps. The next time a person sees this place on maps he is satisfied with real world and the one shown on maps.

Looking back at my timeline, I wonder and how far we have come feeling proud about my contributions. Google Maps now seem as a personal belonging with the Local Guides Community as a family.

I see this community grow bigger and better than ever before and wish all the best for the future.
