Making Lagos More Accessible

Fresh into University, I started exploring my environment. I would go for fashion shows, games nights, clubbing, birthday parties and just grab lunch with a few friends but we’d find no way of knowing before hand what each place offered, their closing hours, affordability and menu.

I joined the local guides program when I tried leaving a review on a place I went. Google maps asked if I wanted to review and I thought, ‘why not?’ It was at that moment I made a conscious effort to put reviews on every single place I went so people could know my experience and I could also view other people’s experiences.

At level six I currently have a bucket list to put at least 20 unmarked streets on the map. Most streets located in the rural areas of Lagos are tend to be unmarked and as a result deliveries are not made, and most eatery companies shy away from making deliveries. This sparked a new interest in me because my street is one of such.

Through Google maps, I want to make Lagos more accessible not just for Street name sake but for easy navigation. I want every street to be accounted for and people get an equal opportunity with people living in the urban areas.
